These days gamers tend to consume video game reviews, information, and related gaming entertainment in video format on sites like Youtube or Twitch, but we still have an enthusiastic editorial gaming community here on WordPress!
I wanted to make it easier for gaming writers to connect with the gaming blogger community, so I’m starting a little series called “Rising Stars” where veteran bloggers and readers alike can discover and welcome new or relatively unknown gaming writers into the community. I hope this will help to encourage and support individuals as well as maintain the health of the gaming blogger community overall.
Let’s take a look at this week’s first five Rising Stars!
★ Paigeyki’s Kingdom – Paige started her gaming blog fairly recently this past March. She grew up playing games with her brothers and loves playing Overwatch with friends, among other many titles. I look forward to seeing the content she comes up with!
★ Virtual Visions – Dei Sophia brings to the table a compelling, analytical approach to gaming breakdowns. Her detailed posts aim to “explore the ways video games tell their stories, through reviews of both old and new games, as well as in depth critique and analysis.” Deep dives ahoy!
★ A Cat’s Library – Hannah has been an ages long best friend of mine since we met in the third grade on her swing set behind my Aunt’s house one summer. Recently she has branched from book reviews to video game reviews and editorial content! I’m partial to her recent post about Okami myself.
★ UnCaptReviews – Dale and Lloyd are both college students with a passion for gaming, respectively majoring in English and creative writing, and business and music. Expect solid, well researched reviews and other gaming editorials from these two.
★ The Tired Obsidian – Slannxe writes hot takes on recent events (such as E3) in the video game industry as well as detailed posts about their experience with specific video games on a more personal level than the typical video game review tends to. Stop in and say hello!
Rising Star Spotlight Nominations
Let’s consider “new” to be bloggers who started writing in the past 6 months (give or take) and “relatively unknown” to be anyone with fewer than roughly 50 WordPress followers.
If you would like to be featured in a future spotlight or have a nomination for blogger(s) you think would be a good fit based on the above criteria, please shoot me an email with your or their info at angeline@backlogcrusader.com.
Thanks for reading!

I could have sworn I followed a good half of these the other day, but WordPress apparently had other ideas. I have followed them (again, where applicable!)
