Rising Stars – Gaming Blogger Spotlight #2

What is Rising Stars?

I wanted to make it easier for gaming writers to connect with the gaming blogger community, so I started this little series called “Rising Stars” where both veteran bloggers and readers can discover and welcome new or relatively unknown gaming writers into the community. I hope this will help to encourage and support individuals as well as maintain the health of the gaming blogger community overall!

You can find the first Rising Stars post here, and now let’s take a look at this week’s five featured bloggers…

Directional Input – Mike is brand new to video game blogging as of June and already has a few substantial posts online about his personal gaming interests, from Persona to Marvel. He likes to include some of his hand drawn doodles into his writing pieces and I look forward to seeing more. Let’s give him a warm welcome to the community!

Games and Stories – Lorraine is another newcomer to video game blogging, but not new to video game writing. With a background of handling editorial updates for a pro team in the digital card game scene, we can expect good things from Lorraine. Her first post about Halo as a literary classic is a great read!

Time to Loot – Naithin writes analysis pieces on games he likes and also posts a very thorough series on the contents of monthly Humble Bundle offerings, which is extremely helpful to fellow Humble Bundle addicts like myself. You can also look forward to his contribution to the Video Game Literary Classics collab in next week’s collab post.

Bar Harukiya – Duane writes mainly about retro gaming and titles that came out before the current console generation, such as Playstation 1 and 2 era titles. I’m honestly baffled that he isn’t more well known in the gaming blogger scene, because his long form editorial on older games are just excellent! He also writes some solid content about anime and books if that’s your jam.

Frostilyte’s Blog – Frostilyte posts consistent and solid reviews of a wide variety of games, as well as some very intriguing articles about game design. Frosti’s post about player deduction in Obra Dinn was the first post of theirs that brought them to my attention. Definitely check it out. Good stuff!

      1. Oh cool I see, I just went over 50 about a week ago hahaha. You can if you want, but I won’t force you. I was just wondering.

  1. Thank-you very much for the generous inclusion, Angie! Not sure if I would dare classify my own ramblings as ‘in-depth analysis’, but I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless. Hah.

Also great to see links to other new faces and places out there I hadn’t come across yet! So thank-you all around! 😀

(Small typo in my name though!)

  2. Thank you for the shout out Angie. 🙂

Always helpful to have someone else give me a promotional boost since I am the worst at plugging my own work.

Looking forward to the next of these so I have more new writers to follow.
